WASHINGTON (7News) — A suspicious package was reportedly found near the U.S. Department of Transportation's D.C. headquarters Thursday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Police said sometime before 9 a.m. that the package was found at 1200 New Jersey Avenue, Southeast, prompting an evacuation.

"Responders are on site to ensure the building is secure, and employees have been directed to work from home today," USDOT officials said.

Officials said there is no active shooter at the location.
