ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Albany police have made an arrest in connection with a robbery by sudden snatching reported early Tuesday morning.
According to police, officers responded around 6:39 a.m. on December 23, 2025, to the 1100 block of Newton Road following a report of a robbery. The victim, a 49-year-old woman, told officers her firearm, a Taurus G2 9mm handgun was taken during the incident.

Later that morning, officers located a suspect at a residence in the 600 block of South Van Buren Street. Police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Jamie Martin, who was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, officers recovered the victim’s stolen property from inside the residence. Based on the evidence collected, Martin was charged with robbery by sudden snatching.
The suspect was transported to the Dougherty County Jail, where the charge was formally lodged.
The investigation remains ongoing.
