WORTH COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Students at Worth County Middle School were evacuated Tuesday, Feb. 24, afternoon following an alleged bomb threat, school officials told parents. This is the second bomb threat in just two days.

Parents and guardians were informed of the evacuation via school communication channels at about 2:30 p.m., sources said. Worth County Schools (WCS) sent an all-clear message at about 3:45 p.m., according to their Facebook page.

Officials confirmed that emergency services were on site, and that the evacuation was out of an abundance of caution.

“Emergency services are on site and working closely with school officials to ensure everyone’s safety - which is our top priority. In following safety protocols, the building has been evacuated.”

In the note to parents and guardians, school officials said student checkouts were discouraged. WCS posted dismissal information on their Facebook page at 2:38 p.m.

WCS said middle school students would be dismissed at their normal time. Car riders were picked up from the front of the Worth County Board of Education building, and bus riders were taken on their normal routes, officials said.
