Description

GEORGIA (WALB) — Voters across the state will vote May 19, 2026 in state races from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Results are expected after polls close.

Voters will be given a ballot based on political party. This means you can only vote for candidates running in your party, or those running non-partisan. You can only vote in races that affect where you live. You have until May 19 to vote.

In contests where only one party has candidates, the May primary will decide the winner. Races that include at least one Republican and one Democrat will be decided in November. Nonpartisan races are final in May. Georgia has a “50% plus one” rule: if no candidate gets a majority of the vote, the top finishers advance to a runoff on June 16, and the highest vote-getter in the runoff wins the primary.
