ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An Albany family of three was presented with a newly constructed Habitat for Humanity home on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 4, through a partnership with Phoebe.

This is the second home built by Flint River Habitat for Humanity in partnership with Phoebe Medical Center. Phoebe donated the lot, fully funded the construction and provided volunteer labor for the project, hospital officials said. Now, the Pascoe family will live on the hospital-owned property near Phoebe’s main campus.
Salisia Pascoe is a single mother to two teenage children. She works as a truck driver, and spends many hours on the road; but she said that providing her kids with a stable home was always top priority despite being slightly unimaginable.
“I really could not have dreamed this,” Pascoe said. “Obviously I thought about home ownership, but I didn’t think it was possible... But with me transferring careers and partnering with Habitat, it has become a reality.”

Pascoe’s home was filled with family and friends during Wednesday’s dedication— each of them eager to celebrate the milestone. Guests included Pascoe’s long-time friend, Ken Bevel.
“This point is a capstone for what the Lord’s been doing in her life, and we’re just excited to be able to celebrate it with her,” Bevel, the Sherwood Baptist Church pastor, said.

Before moving into the $200,000 home, Pascoe and her kids completed 300 volunteer hours in order to be eligible.
“Typically, the homeowner process through Habitat can take one to two years,” Flint Habitat PR Specialist Jordan Parker said. “With this particular project, we’re at about a year, year and a half. Once they’re selected, they have to complete 300 Sweat Equity Hours, which are just volunteer hours through Habitat.”
Pascoe paid the closing costs on the home and received a 0% interest rate on a 30-year mortgage, Parker explained.
Flint River Habitat said these milestones are only beginning. They’re working toward closing four more homes and approving four more family applications in 2026.
The Pascoe family said this is a dream they will not have to wake up from. They said they will sleep in a home they helped build and live in a future they fought for.
