LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - An investigation is underway after shots were fired in a residential area, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) shared in a release on Wednesday, April 29.
LCSO said the incident happened Tuesday, April 28, around 10:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Edgelake Drive. LCSO said multiple people were in parked vehicles outside of a residence when an altercation occurred between two people.
The altercation turned physical in the roadway. LCSO said a vehicle identified as a dark-colored Jeep Wagoneer left the scene. A passenger inside that car started firing shots, LCSO said.
LCSO said everyone involved was gone by the time deputies arrived. 15 shell cases were retrieved from the road. One vehicle was reportedly found at the scene with damage consistent with gunfire.
LCSO also said they have identified most of the people involved, but the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time, officials said.
LCSO shared photos of scene markers with shell casings recovered.

LCSO asked residents in the Edgelake Drive area to review any home security footage they may have from Tuesday night. Anyone with information can call the sheriff’s office at 229-759-6012.
