ECHOLS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB)- An investigation is underway into a home invasion and armed robbery case in Echols County.
The Echols County Sheriff’s Office said it happened early Monday morning, July 7, in the 1700 block of Hwy. 129 S. at a migrant work camp and involved nine alleged victims.
Investigators said that four men armed with several pistols and a rifle stormed the camp. The sheriff’s office describes the men as four Black males, who wore masks and body armor.
The Echols County Sheriff’s Office said the suspects may have crossed into Florida following the robbery.
Investigators ask anyone with information to contact Lt. K. Lewis with the Echols County Sheriff’s Office at (229) 559-5603.
In a post on Facebook, the Sheriff’s Office wrote that anyone who witnessed suspicious activity this morning should call them. They stressed any tip, “no matter how small—could be critical in solving this case.”
