GEORGIA (WALB) – U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is working across party lines to lower taxes for nurses serving in Georgia.

Ossoff is backing the bipartisan Nurse Corps Tax Parity Act, which would exempt scholarships and student loan repayments for nurses in the Federal Nurse Corps from federal income taxes. The program places health care workers in rural and underserved communities.

The bill was introduced by Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR). Ossoff says the goal is to make it easier for nurses to serve Georgia families while expanding access to health care.
