WASHINGTON, D.C. (WALB) – Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff’s bipartisan legislation to strengthen American and Georgia energy security has advanced in Congress, passing a key Senate committee this week.
The American Energy Security Act, co-sponsored by Sen. Ossoff (D-Ga.) and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), aims to help local governments modernize critical energy infrastructure, improve reliability, and lower costs for families.
The measure passed through the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee as part of the PIPELINE Safety Act of 2025, introduced by Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA).
“I am leading this bipartisan legislation with Sen. Cassidy to protect families, support growth, and ensure reliable, safe energy for years to come,” Ossoff said. “This legislation will strengthen Georgia’s energy security by helping our cities modernize infrastructure.”
If fully enacted, the bill would provide resources to localities across Georgia to reinforce power systems and ensure communities are better prepared for future energy challenges.
