ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - On Monday, June 23, the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers announced a merger with The Carter Center.

The transition is nearly completed. On July 1, The Carter Center will advance the mental health and caregiver programs and policies that were a driving force in First Lady Rosalynn Carter’s work and continue to be core pieces of her incredible legacy, according to a release by the Rosalynn Carter Institute.

“Bringing this work together builds on Mrs. Carter’s vision and leadership and on the tireless work of generations of staff and partners to serve the millions of family caregivers in need. Our united efforts will improve outcomes by dramatically increasing our impact on seeing, hearing, and supporting family caregivers.

You remain a crucial part of this journey. As Mrs. Carter famously said, ‘There are only four kinds of people in the world – those who have been caregivers, those who are currently caregivers, those who will be caregivers, and those who will need caregivers.’ Caregiving affects us all, and we need each other—and this work—to shape our shared future."

The release said that The Carter Center will continue to steward this vision with focus, urgency, and a commitment to support all family caregivers.

Updates on the work done by the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers will be provided via The Carter Center, according to the release.

“We are honored to see this come together for greater impact in the future. Thank you for your continued support, which will ensure that caregivers receive the recognition, resources, and advocacy they deserve for years to come,” the release said.
