ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A popular Mexican restaurant in Albany says it’s keeping its food truck off the streets after multiple recent incidents in the area involving ICE.

Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant posted on Facebook Friday afternoon (Sept. 18), saying that out of an abundance of caution, they’re keeping their food truck off the road for the day.

“Our hearts are especially heavy for our local Latino community. We know there is a great deal of fear and uncertainty right now, and we want you to know this: You are so loved here,” the post reads.

“Mi Casa means “my home,” and we have always wanted it to be exactly that—a place where ALL people can walk through our doors and feel safe, welcomed, and cared for.

Our faith calls us to something very simple: Love God and love others. That is what we will continue to do, today and every day.

To our immigrant neighbors, our Latino community, our employees, our friends, and everyone carrying fear today: our hearts are with you."

This all comes as ICE agents have been seen conducting operations throughout south Georgia, including in Valdosta and Dougherty County.

Several people were arrested during an operation in Valdosta, while a man was reportedly hit by an ICE vehicle during an operation in Dougherty County.
