ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital announced they plan to offer 100 free 3-D mammogram screenings during the month of May. The offer is open to uninsured women who are at least 40 years old.
Dr. Shailaja Sappati, a radiologist at Phoebe, said early detection is key to fighting against breast cancer.
“Our advanced 3-D mammography technology provides a clearer and more detailed view of breast tissue, allowing us to identify potential issues with greater accuracy,” Dr. Sappati said. “We are proud to offer these free screenings to ensure that more women, especially those uninsured, have access to this essential health service.”
To be considered for this offer, the hospital said applicants must meet the following criteria:
- not had a mammogram in the last 12 months
- age 40 or older
- not experiencing any breast problems, (if you are experiencing breast problems, contact your doctor immediately)
- uninsured
- not pregnant
- live in one of the following counties: Baker, Calhoun, Colquitt, Crisp, Dougherty, Early, Lee, Miller, Mitchell, Randolph, Sumter, Terrell, Tift, Turner and Worth
- must have a referring physician
As of May 17, the hospital said they still have appointments available for this offer. To make an appointment, contact the Phoebe Patient Contact Center at 229-312-4800.
