ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — It’s been one year since skeletal remains were discovered behind an Albany apartment, but they still have not been identified.
On Sept. 16, 2023, Albany Police discovered the remains in the woods behind an apartment complex in the 200 block of N. Broadway Court.
Since then, Michael Fowler, Dougherty County coroner, said DNA has been collected from a potential family member. However, he is still waiting for additional DNA to be matched to the remains.
Fowler believes the skeletal remains may be linked to a cold case.
“We hope this will bring some closure to this particular cold case,” he said. “We have an idea of who this person may be, but we just need to match the DNA to the family.”
