Description
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, marks one year since a drone attack claimed the lives of 3 U.S. soldier overseas.
All were from Georgia- including Sergeant Breonna Moffett from Savannah.
The U.S. Defense Department says Moffett and the two other fallen solders died when a one-way unmanned aerial system impacted their living quarters.
Two men are now facing charges in connection to that deadly attack.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office accuses the men of conspiring to evade U.S. sanctions and supplying the Iranian government with the type of drone navigation technology used in the attack.
Among one of those soldiers was Sgt. Kennedy Sanders of Waycross, Georgia.
Tuesday night a ceremony was held in her honor.
Her basketball jersey was retired at Ware County High School during a basketball game Tuesday.
Everyone in attendance was encouraged to wear purple in her memory.
