Description
(WLOS) — A North Carolina woman who was missing for nine months has been found alive in Colorado, authorities confirmed Tuesday.
Kelsey Pittman, 33, was reported missing by her family in November 2024 after she lost contact with them, according to a press release from the Inyo County Sheriff's Office in California.
In February, the sheriff's office said someone reported a suspicious vehicle near "The Pads," also called "Slab City," an unincorporated, off-the-grid community in California. When deputies arrived on the scene, they confirmed the car belonged to Pittman. Authorities searched the car and the surrounding area, but did not find Pittman, the sheriff's office said.
Between the time her vehicle was found in February and June, multiple law enforcement agencies worked on a search and rescue mission, but did not locate her at that time, officials said.
The Inyo County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday that Pittman was found in Colorado. Authorities did not provide details about how she vanished or where she had spent the past nine months before she was discovered three states away.
Authorities have chosen not to release further details, citing respect for her privacy and that of her family.
