SUNRIVER, Ore. (KATU) — Authorities in Oregon are asking for the public's help to locate three suspects connected to a disturbing child abuse case.
The Deschutes County Sheriffs Office is looking for 33-year-old Sarah Session, who was indicted on 18 criminal charges, including attempted murder, and several counts of criminal mistreatment, assault, and coercion.
According to court documents, Session violated her professional responsibility by disregarding the care and education of minor children.
Among the allegations listed in the indictment are that she assaulted a child under 10 years old with sodium, hit the child with a curtain rod and window stopper multiple times.
In one case they say Session even forced the child to eat his own vomit.
The alleged abuse occurred between June 1, 2023, and February 6, 2024, and that Session repeatedly showed a lack of remorse according to court documents.
According to the indictment, 18 witnesses testified including several doctors and detectives.
The other two suspects deputies are looking for are 60-year-old Paula Hardenburg on charges of assault and criminal mistreatment, and Gary Hardenburg on charges of criminal mistreatment and tampering with physical evidence. The Hardenburg's are Session's parents.
Deputies believe all three are avoiding contact with law enforcement. Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact Deschutes County Dispatch.
Session has been a licensed teacher in Oregon since 2021 with endorsements in special education and English to speakers of other languages according to state records.
