ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany has directed heightened security measures at all installation entry gates until further notice, according to the base.

The measures come after the commander of U.S. Northern Command directed all installations to implement increased security due to ongoing operations in the Middle East, according to the base.

What to expect at entry gates

The heightened measures include 100% ID checks, random vehicle inspections, and the suspension of the Trusted Traveler Program, according to the Marine Corps Logistics Base.

The Trusted Traveler Program previously allowed DoD-affiliated sponsors to vouch for vehicle occupants for installation access, the base said. All unvetted visitors must now report to the installation Visitor Center to request access.

The Marine Corps Logistics Base said drivers should expect delays and possible random inspections at all entry gates and should plan accordingly.
