Oscar Vasquez-Lopez was arraigned on one count of first-degree homicide by vehicle in connection with a February crash that killed Dr. Linda Davis, a teacher at Hesse K-8 school. Vasquez-Lopez was accused of striking Davis while fleeing immigration agents.

His attorney waived formal reading of the indictment at the arraignment.

“Your Honor, we’ll waive formalities, enter a plea of not guilty, and request to move forward to a jury trial,” his attorney said.

Discovery, trial timeline

The case is now set for a trial docket call. Defense attorneys said they have not yet received full discovery.

Vasquez-Lopez remains in custody.
