VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – Authorities are investigating how a man was able to unlawfully enter the campus of Valdosta High School early Monday morning, prior to students arriving for the day.
According to a statement released by Valdosta City Schools, “the man pulled multiple fire alarms and entered a classroom before being discovered by school staff. Law enforcement was immediately contacted, and the individual was arrested and taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.”
The school district confirmed that the individual is facing multiple charges, including second-degree burglary. The incident is being reviewed thoroughly as school officials work closely with their safety team and law enforcement to strengthen security protocols.
“We understand the concern a situation like this can cause for our faculty, staff, students, and community,” the statement reads. “The safety of everyone on our campuses remains our top priority.”
At this time, the identity of the individual has not been released, WALB is working to obtain the man’s mugshot and further details surrounding the incident.
