"I want to thank everyone for their vote this past weekend at the Georgia NAACP State Conference 83rd State Convention to serve as their Georgia State President," wrote Westbrooks. "We will work together side by side to move this organization to another chapter. Thank you for putting your trust in me. Making One Georgia a Reality."
Outgoing state NAACP President Gerald Griggs also released a statement, reflecting on his time in the role and emphasized the importance of holding those in power accountable.
"I want to sincerely thank the members, leaders, and supporters of the Georgia NAACP for the honor of serving as your State President," said Griggs. "It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to stand with you in the long and unbroken fight for justice, equality, and civil rights in our beloved state. Together, we’ve continued a proud legacy—defending the vote, demanding accountability, and speaking truth to power. None of it would have been possible without the tireless dedication of our branches, youth leaders, and community partners who live the mission every day. As I reflect on this journey, I’m filled with deep gratitude—for your trust, your courage, and your faith in our shared vision of a better Georgia."
