VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) — A Lowndes County teenager is facing charges after police reportedly found a gun hidden inside his clothes.

On Oct. 11, police say a concerned citizen walked up to a group of teens who were allegedly looking into cars in the 2200 block of Bemiss Road near PruittHealth-Holly Hill in Valdosta.

When approached around 2:45 a.m., the group of four teens ran away, according to police. The teenagers’ descriptions were given to Valdosta police officers in the area.

Officers found the teens — three 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old — in the 2400 block of Giddens Drive near Moody Drive. The teens were detained on misdemeanor charges of curfew violation and loitering, according to VPD.

Officers said they found a gun and part of a vape on the 14-year-old. That teen faces an additional misdemeanor charge for possessing a handgun while under the age of 18. The teen was taken to the Lowndes County Jail, then to the Regional Youth Detention Centers (RYDC).

At the direction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, the three other teens were released to their parents.
