Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) opens applications for it’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in an effort to ensure that all people with a “low income, especially those who are senior citizens or medically homebound, have meaningful access to all programs and activities conducted or supported by local Community Action Agencies (CAA).”
The cooling program application opened in April for all residents age 65 and older who are medically homebound. Because the funding was available, the application has since opened to all qualifying low-income Georgians. To join the waiting list for assistance, you can call (229)218-0317 or join online using this link starting July 7.
Each year, DFCS opens the LIHEAP to help Georgians heat and cool their homes. The heating program begins in December, and the cooling program begins in April.
