ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Tributes have been pouring in from around the nation and the globe honoring former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at 100 on Sunday.

We mourn the passing of Jimmy Carter, peanut farmer and 39th President of the United States. President Carter passed way today at the age of 100. Through the years he has been an advocate for the peanut industry and shared his story to a number of visitors to Plains for the Georgia Peanut Tour and the Plains Peanut Festival. President Carter was inducted into the Georgia Peanut Commission’s Hall of Fame and the Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame. Our prayers are with the Carter family during this time.

Jimmy Carter National Historical Park mourns the passing of James Earl Carter, Jr., 39th President of the United States and devoted supporter of the park that bears his name. His death follows the passing of his beloved wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, in November 2023.
