COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - One of several men suspected in the death of Vann Brown in 2020 now has a jury selection date.

Jeffery Harper, who was indicted on malice and felony murder changes in 2022, will now go on trial in April 2025, according to the Coffee County Superior Clerk’s Office. Jury selection is scheduled for March 31.

WALB previously reported that prosecutors accused Harper of asphyxiating Brown during a fight at a wedding reception in Ambrose.

The clerk’s office also confirmed a change of venue motion filed by Harper’s counsel in Sept. 2023 was granted after, “the court finds and concludes that an impartial jury cannot be obtained to try the case from a jury panel compromised of jurors from Coffee County, Georgia.”

Both sides agreed to hold the trial in Bulloch County.

Harper was one of eight men originally indicted on various crimes related to the Brown case. In 2022, Justin Anderson was found not guilty in the counts of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault.
