CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) - The owners of Kebo’s Restaurant in Camilla are giving back to the community after it was destroyed in a fire.

Kebo’s was scheduled to host a fundraiser on Tuesday, but the fire broke out on Monday, causing the restaurant to shut down.

The smell of smoke is still in the air at Kebo’s restaurant in Camilla, but even in the midst of their adversity, Kebo’s is still partnering with local organizations to help send adults with disabilities off to Disney World.

“Some of us are not that fortunate to be able to attend stuff like this. Whoever has not been to Disney, it’s just an amazing opportunity to be able to have the chance to be able to go anywhere,” says an attendee of the Disney trip, Charamine Harris.

The Mitchell-Baker Service Center introduces adults with disabilities to new experiences. This year, they planned on taking 19 adults to Disney World. They planned a fundraiser with Kebo’s, but then the fire happened.

“Monday night, the Green family contacted me to see if they could start an online fundraiser so that our individuals could still raise money for their upcoming Disney Trip. And I was so overwhelmed that in their time of loss, they were still worried about us,” says Executive Director of Mitchell-Baker Service Center, Ginna Waters. “We just greatly appreciate Regina and Keith and the entire green family for this very generous fundraiser they are doing for us in their time of need. I get emotional thinking about it because it just speaks to the heart, and we appreciate them.”

Restaurant owners wanted to contribute to the Mitchell-Baker Service Center and start a GoFundMe with a $3,000 goal to help fund the trip.

“She felt really terrible about not being able to continue with the Tuesday Family Out Night and she was hating it because the adults were looking forward to going to Disney World and she wanted to help the best way she could. Any amount of money we can raise will go to them and the more money we raise the better time they can have for sure,” says Vance Green, the owners’ son.

There are a number of ways to contribute:

  1. Give to the Gofundme
  2. Bring a check or cash to the Mitchell-Baker Service Center located at 65 Industrial Blvd Camilla, GA, United States, Georgia 31730
  3. Call (229) 336-7977 for Venmo information
  4. Visit their Facebook page
