ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - After a mainly dry holiday weekend, Mother Nature is turning the faucet back on this week in South Georgia with scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the area.

We’ll start the week with a chance for showers and storms, with coverage increasing every day until becoming likely by Thursday and Friday. While most of us will see rainfall at some point in time during the week ahead, there will be plenty of sunny intervals in between the clouds and rainfall. Because of this, highs will remain in the low to mid 90s each day despite the increased rain chances. Humidity levels will be high but not extreme, so heat index readings should stay at or below 100 degrees. Still, take the usual precautions when exerting yourself outdoors during peak heating, especially in areas that do not see rainfall.

Showers and thunderstorms become likely by the end of the week. Again, even with the higher rain chances, no one day will see an all-day washout. High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler with the increased cloud cover and storms, in the lower 90s, with lows still in the lower to middle 70s.
