Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Plenty of moisture around throughout the day, aiding in more afternoon and evening showers and storms. Severe weather is unlikely during this pattern, but a few strong storms could occur with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Any rainfall today will briefly stifle the heat in the low 90s, but it will remain humid. Lows into the night will drop into the upper 60s and low 70s.
A persistent wet pattern will continue before the 4th of July holiday as a high-pressure system in the Atlantic consistently drives in moisture from the Gulf. Nearly widespread showers and storms remain likely through Thursday, but a cold front will arrive by the 4th of July to usher in drier air. Highs will remain in the upper 80s and 90s, with an increase in highs after the front due to drier air.
