Description

PELHAM, Ga. (WALB) - The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) released details on May 16 about an incident involving a horse on Georgia highway 65 in Pelham. GSP said the horse was struck three times while trotting the highway on the evening of May 15.

GSP said the horse succumbed to its injuries.

They said the horse was with a rider traveling west along the highway when it suddenly became uncooperative and refused to go any further. The rider got off of the horse for his own safety. Officials said the horse then went into the highway and was hit by a van traveling east.

After that, GSP said the horse was hit again by an F150 and a third time by a Chevy 2500 traveling west. The Chevy spun, crossing into the center lane after hitting the horse. It came to a stop in the south ditch beside GA-65.

GSP said the horse died and landed in the north ditch of GA-65.
