ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Eames Christmas Trees in Albany has an array of both artificial and real trees for the holiday season.

Owner Glenn Eames’ family has been serving the Albany area for decades. He said that helping people find their tree reminds him of his childhood.

“I’ve been doing it since I was a kid, so it’s just a part of Christmas when somebody says ‘Oh, that’s the tree, that’s the tree!’ It makes — you know, it’s everything to make them happy,” Eames said.

In recent years, shoppers have debated whether or not a low-maintenance artificial tree is better than real trees.

Despite the reluctance, local Christmas tree farms boost the economy with their sales and by providing jobs. Stephan Davis, an employee at Eames Christmas Trees, said he loves working with the trees.

“Man, it’s a wonderful feeling. Every time I come out here, you know, it’s a blessing, and it makes me feel really good by coming out here and helping Mr. Glenn out on the trees.”

Despite the rise in popularity of artificial trees, Eames said nothing can compare to bringing home a real-life Christmas tree.

“You know, artificial tree is nice, especially the newer ones, but it’s just not real. But still, just to feel and smell of the new tree can’t be matched by an artificial tree, there’s just no way” said Eames.
