LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A suspect is behind bars after a late-night pursuit that began in Leesburg and ended in Albany.

On August 30, around 11:50 p.m., Leesburg Police reported that 25-year-old Ramaill Thomas, of Albany, forced entry into his girlfriend’s home before fleeing in a black Honda Accord. Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office quickly spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.

According to LCSO, Thomas refused to pull over, leading deputies on a chase down U.S. Highway 19 at speeds over 100 miles per hour. The pursuit continued into Albany, where Thomas eventually crashed on West Third Avenue. He attempted to run but was quickly arrested after falling while fleeing on foot.

Thomas faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing and attempting to elude, obstruction, reckless driving, and criminal damage to property. Additional charges were filed by the Leesburg Police Department and Georgia State Patrol.

Sheriff Rachals praised the teamwork between deputies, Leesburg Police, and Georgia State Patrol, reminding the public: “If you’re committing crimes, stay out of Lee County.”
