NWS encouraged residents of the affected counties to drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activities during the afternoon and wear lightweight and lightly colored clothing.
Local EMA and law enforcement officials have echoed the National Weather Service’s advice.
The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) added that hot temperatures and high humidity can cause heat illness. CCSO encouraged residents to stay in air-conditioned rooms and to check in on relatives and neighbors.
Officials also said to take action if you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
