MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) — Memphis Health Foods selected Moultrie as the site of its newest U.S.-based manufacturing facility. The move is expected to bring jobs and healthier food products to the community.
Amy Johnson, president of the Moultrie-Colquitt County Development Authority, said the facility is projected to create 30 jobs in its first year of production, with that number expected to grow to 90 within five years.
“We’re excited for them, not only for them to be coming to our area, but we’re excited about this business,” Johnson said. “Those are good paying jobs, and we’re excited for that growth. And I consider that smart growth at a smart pace. So this actually was a win-win for the community.”
Raphael Mortati, CEO of Memphis Health Foods, said community backing played a role in the company’s decision to locate in Moultrie.
“We have received a lot of support from Amy Johnson and all the board—from all three,” Mortati said. “And because of the support and the people who received us, it made a lot of sense for us to move to Moultrie. So we are very excited to bring these new initiatives also to Moultrie.”

Memphis Health Foods offers healthier alternatives to everyday products, including mushroom coffee as an alternative to regular coffee.
Moultrie resident Nikki Johnson said access to those options matters to the community.
“I think that it’s always a great thing to have healthier options, especially on the square,” she said. “There’s a gym on the square also, so I think that a lot of people will be interested in having something easily accessible—and just having more variety of options than we already have here.”
According to officials, the facility is expected to begin operations before the end of 2026.
