ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar called on fans to show up Monday afternoon at Piedmont Park for a free pop-up concert.
Hundreds showed up to the Meadow, but the performance was reportedly shut down after just a few songs.
Video shared on social media shows fans crowded around the singer for the surprise performance.
“We’re almost home, Atlanta,” the R&B singer said on social media. “Hurry up,” he said, while adding that the reason for the 4 p.m. timing was due to traffic in the city.
This isn’t the first time Caesar has done surprise pop-ups. Over the weekend, a similar event was shut down at a park in Houston.
Caesar is known for his appearance on Justin Bieber’s “Peaches.” He has been nominated nine times for a Grammy Award and won in 2019 for Best R&B Performance.
Video shows Atlanta Police officers speaking to the musician followed by the crowd dispersing. We reached out to APD, but they declined to comment and referred us to the parks and recreation department for the city.
