GEORGIA (WALB) - Waterfowl duck hunters can return to the water this weekend. The official opening of the 2025-2026 duck season is on November 22. The first half of the season will end on Nov 30. The second half will resume on Dec 6-running through Jan 25 of 2026.
Migratory gamebird biologist Nara Nitschke says there are no significant changes to this year’s season lengths and bag limits for the regular season. For a full list of waterfowl regulations, click here. For a list of species limits per day, click here. To buy a license, click here.
Georgia duck hunters must have
- A valid Georgia hunting license
- A Georgia migratory bird license
- A federal duck stamp
Hunters must use nontoxic shot of F size or smaller when hunting ducks. any 10-gauge or smaller shotgun may be used during the hunt. Lead shot is prohibited when hunting waterfowl.
