TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The loved ones of two men who lost their lives after a gunman opened fire two weeks ago on Florida State University’s campus launched GoFundMe pages to assist with expenses.

Former Leon High assistant football coach Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba of Greenville, South Carolina, died April 17 after a suspected gunman fired shots on the university’s campus, according to authorities.

The GoFundMe for Morales exceeded its original goal of $10,000 just shortly after it was launched a day after the shooting.

Since then, the goal has been raised to $175,000, with over $161,800 raised from supporters at this time.

A message recently shared to the GoFundMe page on Tuesday from Morales’ wife, Betty, and daughter, Alicia, says, “Thank You. I’ve struggled with how to thank you all for your incredible generosity. Alicia and I are eternally grateful.”

Their message goes on to say, “Please know that every message, every donation and every prayer has given us strength when we needed it most.”

At this time, Morales’ funeral arrangements have not been shared.

The South Carolina family of Chabba launched a GoFundMe page two days after the shooting.

He was laid to rest last week.

Last week, Chabba’s GoFundMe was closed after it surpassed its goal of $50,000. His family thanked the community for their support, saying, “Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and love during this difficult time.”

Both men are expected to be honored during this weekend’s FSU graduation ceremonies.
