TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - South Georgians are gearing up to ring in the New Year with one of Tifton’s most anticipated traditions, the annual Gnat Drop.
The free community celebration will take place on December 31 at the Tift County Recreation Department and is designed to be a family-friendly event open to residents across South Georgia. Organizers say the event offers a safe and festive way for people of all ages to welcome the New Year together.

The Gnat Drop will feature live music, dancing, food vendors, fireworks, a car show and a Kid’s Zone for younger attendees. This year’s entertainment lineup includes Camden West, Felecia Howard, Jax Fowler, Lil Ray Ray, Thee Steppin’ Goats, with Soulful Soundz Band headlining the night.
Event organizers say the celebration is about more than just music and fireworks. It’s an opportunity to bring communities together, reflect on the year behind, and look ahead with hope.

The Gnat Drop is expected to draw families, friends, and visitors as Tifton once again becomes the place to welcome the New Year.
WALB’s Taylor Lewis will have more on the celebration coming up later today.
