SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Georgia Southern University Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting on the Armstrong Campus.

According to Georgia Southern University, the shooting happened in the Residential 1 parking lot on Tuesday night.

A shelter-in-place order was issued while officers secured the scene. It was lifted when officers determined there was no threat to the campus community.

Officials with Georgia Southern said that the people involved in the shooting are not enrolled students and that they knew each other.

One person was injured and received medical attention.

A suspect has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The investigation remains active and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Georgia Southern University also released the following statement:
