FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) – A moment was set aside during the Fitzgerald City Council meeting to honor two individuals whose quick actions helped save a life.
Captain Barrett Parr and Fitzgerald resident Brian Joiner were recognized with a special presentation and awards for their heroic efforts.
According to city officials, Captain Parr responded to an accident where the driver was suffering from a medical emergency. Parr pulled the driver from the vehicle and began performing CPR. Joiner stepped in to assist Parr during the lifesaving effort.
During Monday’s council meeting, Captain Parr was presented with the “Life Saving Award.” Joiner received a proclamation from the mayor and was commended by both the Fitzgerald Police Department and the city for his bravery and support.
