MITCHELL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A tractor-trailer driver died on Wednesday, April 15, after the vehicle rolled over them during a roadside repair, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
The driver’s identity has not been released.
A trooper was dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:55 p.m. on GA-262 near Wade Road in Mitchell County, according to GSP.
GSP said the driver stopped the tractor-trailer, exited and crawled under the tractor to make a mechanical adjustment. While the driver was underneath the vehicle, it rolled forward and traveled over the driver, causing fatal injuries, GSP said.
A Department of Public Safety Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer also responded to the scene to inspect the vehicle as part of the investigation, GSP said.
