COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A traffic stop in the early morning hours of July 6 turned into a felony arrest when Robert Dean Turner, 62, was found in possession of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

At approximately 1:18 AM, a Coffee County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a stop on Spring Oak Street in Douglas. During the encounter, Turner—who was driving the vehicle—admitted to being on probation for a previous meth possession charge.

As deputies conducted a search, they discovered a baggie containing a white, crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine. Turner was arrested at the scene and charged with Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act under O.C.G.A. 16-13-30.

He was then transported to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center, where he remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.

Authorities have not yet confirmed lab results for the substance, but charges reflect preliminary findings based on field testing and officer observations.
