Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - On Christmas Eve, the Dougherty County Police Department conducted “Secret Santa Traffic Stops,” a holiday-themed initiative focused on goodwill and community engagement.
This operation consisted of officers conducting warning-only traffic stops, and instead of issuing citations, they were surprised with a stuffed reindeer and a reminder to drive safely during the holiday season.
Officials say the initiative was designed to reinforce positive interactions between officers and the community while promoting roadway safety during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
“These stops were all about spreading cheer, encouraging safe driving, and reminding residents that our officers are here to serve and protect,” said a department spokesperson. “Seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter made this a meaningful way to connect with the community.”
The Dougherty County Police Department wishes all residents a safe and joyful holiday season and encourages motorists to continue practicing safe driving habits throughout the year.
