ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Delta flight turned back to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Thursday morning after its occupants smelled a “smoky odor,” according to the airline.

Delta flight 1334, which was headed to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, landed safely shortly after takeoff. No injuries were reported, according to Delta.

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew, and we apologize to our customers for the delay in their travels,” the airline said in a statement.

The cause of the smell is unknown.

The incident comes five days after another Delta flight returned to the Atlanta airport due to fumes reported in the cockpit. The six crew members and 199 passengers evacuated on the tarmac using slides.
