ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Dougherty County dispatchers received a call regarding a deceased person on Friday, July 3, around 6:19 p.m. in the wooded area of the 3400 block of Gillionville Road, according to the Dougherty County Public Information Officer.

No additional details were immediately available, including the person’s identity or circumstances surrounding the death.

Officials say that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been requested to assist with the identification process.

“The Dougherty County Coroner’s Office, Dougherty County Police Department, Albany Fire Department and the GBI are coordinating efforts to process the scene and transport the deceased for examination and identification.”
