ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Firefighters are battling flames at a northeast Atlanta townhome on Saturday morning.

The fire is in the 550 block of Winton Terrace NE. No civilian injuries have been reported.

Firefighters said they arrived to see flames and heavy smoke rising from the multi-unit building. Crews requested backup due to the extent of the fire, which had spread to multiple sides and into the attic.

“The incident occurred under subfreezing conditions, with temperatures around 27 degrees, adding complexity to operations,” the department added in a statement.

A firefighter was also taken to the hospital for a medical issue unrelated to the fire.

Residents have been displaced, but the fire department hasn’t provided an exact number. Investigators are trying to find the cause of the fire.
