CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - Cordele City Manager Angela H. Redding has been dismissed, according to the city attorney.

Redding began her position as city manager in January of 2022. Cordele City Attorney, Tommy Coleman confirmed the decision was made Tuesday, February 17, 2026, following a city meeting.

Cordele Mayor Wesley Rainey told WALB on Tuesday, the decision stemmed from contract issues.

“It was contract disputes that were just unresolve-able. It was mainly contract negotiations,” Rainey said. “The city manager works for the City Commission, and it’s in our discretion. And her contract was just up for renewal, and we elected not to continue because of the contract disputes. The other things, I just am not gonna elaborate on at this time.”

Coleman added that the city decided to move in a different direction.

At this time, city officials say no interim city manager has been named, and there is no exact timeline for when the position will be filled.
