CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) — The Cordele police department thanks the community after tips on an apartment complex shooting led to an arrest.

In a news release, police say, “Community members who were willing to come forward with credible tips played a significant role in helping law enforcement locate and apprehend the suspect”

The suspect was taken into custody in Pulaski County, near Pineview, Georgia.

Police say an investigation alleges the unnamed suspect tried to shoot someone near children and other innocent bystanders on June 20, 2026 in the 600 block of West 23rd Avenue.

The suspect is charged with:

• Aggravated Assault, 4 counts
• Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree, 2 counts
• Reckless Conduct
• Discharge of a Firearm on Property of Another
• Criminal Damage to Property 1st Degree
• Criminal Trespass
• Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

“This arrest demonstrates what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies and the community work together toward a common goal. Public safety is a shared responsibility. While law enforcement remains committed to protecting our community, the cooperation of citizens who provide information and remain engaged is invaluable. Together, we can continue making Cordele a safer place for our families, children, and visitors.

The Cordele Police Department is also thanking several South Georgia Law enforcement agencies for their help in arresting the suspect.

Those agencies include the:

• Crisp County Sheriff’s Office
• Pulaski County GA
• Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office
• United States Marshals Service
• Arabi Police Department
• Georgia Department of Community Supervision
• The Georgia Department of Natural Resources - Georgia DNR.
