SOUTHWEST (WALB) - Several bridge replacement and resurfacing contracts for parts of Southwest Georgia were awarded in October, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).

The largest contract will resurface about 17 miles of Interstate 75 from the Florida state line to north of US 84/State Route 38 in Lowndes County, GDOT said.

The work for the about $31 million contract is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2026.

In Colquitt County, an about $1.9 million contract was awarded or a bridge replacement on Moultrie Lenox Road over Gum Creek. The work is scheduled to be completed in winter of 2026, GDOT said.

In Brooks and Thomas counties, an about $4.8 million contract was awarded for resurfacing about 17 miles of SR 33 from north of SR 38 to the Colquitt County line. The work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2026, GDOT said.

In Lee County, an about $836,000 contract was awarded for resurfacing about 1.4 miles of SR 3 from south of Robert B Lee Road to north of Jordan Road. GDOT said the work will be completed in the fall of 2026.

In Thomas County, an about $6 million contract will be scheduled for bridge replacements Palmer Road over Little Ochlocknee River and Little Ochlocknee River overflow. GDOT said the work is schedule to be completed in spring of 2027.

Start dates were not scheduled for any of the projects, GDOT said.
