DAWSON, Ga. (WALB) - A student brought brass knuckles to a Terrell County school on Wednesday, April 29, according to the Terrell County School System.
During an intervention, it was revealed that a student had obtained brass knuckles, which are prohibited on school grounds, the school system said. There was no firearm involved in the incident or on campus, according to the school system.
A school resource officer responded immediately to de-escalate the incident and ensure each student and staff member was safe, the school system said.
Local law enforcement officials were notified and responded, the school system said. The school system reportedly utilizes weapon detection systems.

The school system said it is aware of images circulating from portions of the incident and understands the concern that these images may cause.
“The images do not reflect the full context or the prompt actions taken to maintain a safe secure environment.”
The school is reportedly conducting a review of the incident in partnership with law enforcement. Due to student privacy laws, no additional details can be shared at this time, according to the school system.
At this time, there is no active threat to the school environment.
