ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Social media influencer Gabe Lincoln used his growing platform to help local families ahead of the holidays, handing out turkeys, winter clothing and personal hygiene items through his outreach effort, Gabe’s Giving.

Lincoln, who has more than 500,000 followers and appeared on MTV’s Caught in the Act: Double Life, started Gabe’s Giving as a way to give back to the people who supported his rise.

“I’m being blessed all the time with my platform and the things that I do on my platform, so I decided, you know, let’s put some of these blessings to work and bless other people,” Lincoln said.

Volunteers at the event distributed turkeys, winter coats and clothing, and personal hygiene products such as soap and deodorant.

Dookieana, an event sponsor, said she was inspired to help because she understands how it feels to need assistance.

“God gave me a platform and a voice, so to be an elite sponsor to give back — one year I was in this line, one year my family did not have something to put on the table, to be able to give back and partner with my best friend, I’m excited and grateful to see what God is going to do next for us,” she said.

Candace Roberts, another sponsor who helped supply coats and winter clothing through 4 Kids SWGA, said giving back to the community brought a sense of fulfillment.

“You’re full — it makes you full because you’re giving back to your community. Some people need a blessing; things are kind of rough for a lot of people these days, so just to be able to help during some of these rough times is a benefit for us,” Roberts said.

The event helped families secure food, warm clothing and hygiene supplies, allowing many to focus more on the festive side of the season.
