ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An Albany man is facing several charges after a crash Sunday night that left his truck in a tree with a child inside the vehicle.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. at West Gordon Avenue and South McKinley Street.

According to the incident report, 27-year-old Tyreek Beckett was driving a Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on West Gordon Avenue when he ran a stop sign, jumped the curb and crashed into trees near a home on West Gordon Avenue.

The child was riding in the front passenger seat. The report says they were not wearing a seat belt or secured in a child restraint.

Both Beckett and the child were taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The report says Beckett was intubated and medical staff told officers he was heavily intoxicated. The child was also checked out and was described as okay at the time.

The report says Beckett initially gave officers a different name before his identity was confirmed.

Beckett is expected to face charges including:

• DUI
• Endangering a child by DUI
• Reckless driving
• Driving without a license
• Violations involving a child restraint and seat belt.

The report also says a records check showed Beckett was wanted in South Carolina for assault.
